World's top 10 tourist destinations - ET Slide Shows - Features - The Economic Times
World tourism got off to a surprisingly sound start in the first four months of 2008, although uncertainty over the global economic situation is affecting consumer confidence and could hurt tourism demand.

The Sexiest Jobs: Ten Titillating Career Choices - DivineCaroline

The Sexiest Jobs: Ten Titillating Career Choices - DivineCaroline: "Want to get asked out more often? Consider nursing school. Nursing is one of the ten sexiest professions, according to a recent survey.

The seemingly universal male fantasy about the nurse in the short white dress notwithstanding, I can see why nursing, which comes in at number six, made the list. There is something sexy about a person who takes care of you, and nice people (the case for most nurses, in my experience) are sexy.

If you want a sexier job, but can’t handle bedpan duty, there are other options. While they might not be the easiest careers to break into (and some are nearly impossible if you didn’t luck out in the good genes department), they’ll guarantee a role in quite a few people’s fantasies."

10 Essential Websites - TIME

Wikipedia.org - 10 Essential Websites - TIME: "Despite repeated attempts to compromise its integrity, Wikipedia remains the most popular online encyclopedia on the Web. Since anyone can create or edit a Wikipedia page, both companies and individuals have been caught airbrushing and embellishing their own entries. The Wiki community usually intervenes, however — egregious edits get reported on WikiScanner and Wiki trolls are given the heave ho — or at least a Wiki humiliation. Now you can even enjoy Wikipedia's wisdom without ever clicking on it. The Microsoft Live search engine automatically pulls up the first paragraph of any relevant Wikipedia entry in its search results."

10 Skills You Need to Succeed at Almost Anything

10 Skills You Need to Succeed at Almost Anything: "What does it take to succeed? A positive attitude? Well, sure, but that’s hardly enough. The Law of Attraction? The Secret? These ideas might act as spurs to action, but without the action itself, they don’t do much.
Success, however it’s defined, takes action, and taking good and appropriate action takes skills. Some of these skills (not enough, though) are taught in school (not well enough, either), others are taught on the job, and still others we learn from general life experience.
Below is a list of general skills that will help anyone get ahead in practically any field, from running a company to running a gardening club. Of course, there are skills specific to each field as well – but my concern here is with the skills that translate across disciplines, the ones that can be learned by anyone in any position."

10 things to learn from Japan

1. THE CALM     Not a single visual of chest-beating or wild grief. Sorrow itself has been elevated
2. THE DIGNITY     Disciplined queues for water and groceries. Not a rough word or a crude gesture.
3. THE ABILITY     The incredible architects, for instance. Buildings swayed but didn’t fall.
4. THE GRACE    People bought only what they needed for the present, so everybody could get something.
5. THE ORDER    No looting in shops. No honking and no overtaking on the roads. Just understanding.
6. THE SACRIFICE    Fifty workers stayed back to pump sea water in the N-reactors. How will they ever be repaid?
7. THE TENDERNESS    Restaurants cut prices. An unguarded ATM is left alone. The strong  cared for the weak.
8. THE TRAINING     The old and the children, everyone knew exactly what to do. And they did just that.
9. THE MEDIA     They showed magnificent restraint in the bulletins. No silly reporters. Only calm reportage.
10. THE CONSCIENCE      When the power went off in a store, people put things back on the shelves and left quietly!
