AP’s future hinges on Bayyaram steel plant #telangana
AP’s future
NEWSPAPER HEADLINES (25.4.2013)
The standoff on Chinese incursions into Indian Territory continues to take up headline space in the major dailies. "India sends out doves, China sends in chopper", writes the Hindustan Times while the Indian Express says, "China sticks to line, third flag meet likely".
Reporting on the Chit fund scam in West Bengal, the Pioneer, under the headline, "Cheat fund Boss' explosive note to CBI", writes, the note alleges that a Union Cabinet Ministers' advocate wife and 2 TMC MPs are among the fund beneficiaries.
The Asian Age writes, facing severe criticism, particularly after the recent spate of rape cases, that suspension of erring officers was just a cover up, the govt. is planning sweeping changes in the suspension norms of such policemen.
The major Business News in papers today is Jet Airways, becoming the first Indian airline to sell a stake to a foreign carrier, since last years' relaxation in FDI rules. Jet has sold 24 per cent equity to Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways for around 2,060 crore rupees.
The passing away of singer extraordinaire Shamshad Begum at the age of 94 in Mumbai, late Tuesday night, is also reported by papers. Her golden voice immortalized songs like Mere piya rangoon and Kajra Mohabbat wala.
In what is being seen as one of the most important cases for students in India in recent times, with implications for educational instructions across the country, The Times of India writes that the Delhi High Court today will hear a suit, filed by big publishers against a photocopy shop in Delhi University. The court verdict could change the way students study in India.
And finally, in good news related to the centers ambitious rural Job scheme MNREGA, The Statesman says writes that as per a CAG survey, distress, migration form rural areas, has gone down due to the implementation of this scheme.
If you are a votary of Telangana State,
you would most probably get offended with that argument. You would
question the integrationists about the movement for Vizag steel plant
and the slogan, “Visakha Vukku – Andhrula Hakku” (In those days
“Andhrula” meant people of Andhra Pradesh, not people of just Coastal
Andhra and Rayalaseema as understood now).
When minerals and steel plants are
national properties, you ask, why should there be any demand to locate a
factory at one place or the other? If Visakha Vukku Andhrula Hakku was
all right, why is it that Bayyaram Vukku Telangana Hakku is not
palatable? If one says seashore is the best place for location of a
steel plant which involves a lot of exports and imports, one would be
confronted with a query: “What about Bhilai which has steel plant but no
sea?” The slugfest is endless. You can go on as long as you like.
